Team Parents

Welcome to Chino Hills USA Baseball League.
Thank you for volunteering to be a Team Parent. You keep everyone (managers, coaches, parents and players) organized and happy!

Some Team Parents handle all of the details themsleves, while others recruit or delegate tasks to other parents. Most of the time you will have parents who are willing to help. Take them up on their offer - just make sure the job gets done. There is no right or wrong way to do things. Make it as easy as you can. Remember, we are all here so that our kids can have fun!

FORMS to make it easier for you....
We have made several forms that you can use to make team parenting easier for you! Included in the forms are a roster, snack schedule, opening letter, info about Big League Dreams, etc.

LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Help communicate between the manager/coaches and the parents.

Assign someone to be the "information person" for the team. This could be the team parent - or another parent. They should be someone that has email and can check it and the league website on a regualr basis. We will post information that may be critical to you on the web site. We post team schedules, information about opening and closing day, information on other league events, etc.

Make sure that all of the players have a team roster. You may want to include various information, such as: the player's name, # on their jersey, parent(s) names, phone number, cell phone number, and email address.

The team banner may be made or purchased. Split the cost between the players. The team banner should be done prior to picture day. It is usually included in the team picture.

Organize the team for picture day and opening day ceremonies.

Distribute candy for the the fund-raiser. Collect the money and turn in by the due date.

Pick up the pictures and distribute to the team members.

Organize team parties. The league works with various restaurants and will provide you with coupons for team parties. You may find that it wokrs best to have a party immediately after a game. Look at the game schedule and pick a few times that you feel will work best. Make sure to call the restaurant and reserve the space.

Coordinate manager and coaches awards and gifts at the end of the season. Collect money from all of the players towards the gifts.

Pick up the team trophies at the end of the season. Plan an end of the year party. You can hand out trophies and awards at your party.

OTHER INFORMATION:

THE LEAGUE SUPPLIES:
The League supplies the team jersey (with number on it), team hat, and pants.

THE PARENT SUPPLIES: The following is supplied by the parent:

  • Athletic Supporter (perferably a hard cup). This is to be worn at ALL practices and games.
  • Baseball Glove
  • Baseball Bat. One that is appropriate for the age and size of the player. A little tip: The player should grab the bat with one hand, wrist on top, and hold straight out in front of them. If they cannot hold it out straight, it is too heavy.
  • Athletic Shoes - baseball or soccer cleats. Metal cleats are allowed for the 12U and older divisions only.
  • Belt, socks and long sleeved shirt. Work with the team mom to find out what color belt, socks (solid color or striped), and long sleeved shirt to get. The long sleeved shirt is optional. In the cooler months, the player may want to wear a long sleeved shirt under their baseball jersey.
We are here to support you in your efforts. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email or contact any other Board member.

Once again, thank you for volunteering your time for the kids. The Team Parent really makes a big difference to the team!
